Meadow Road Gallery: Daisy Durling-Goode

My name is Daisy Durling-Goode. I grew up in Kettering and moved back here around 5 years ago to be near my family while starting my own. I’ve always loved being creative and trying out any new medium I can get my hands on, but a love of screen printing kickstarted an interest in digital creativity. It pushed me to retrain as a graphic designer in my late 20s, and I now use the skills gained for personal projects such as this — editing photos to become something special and unique to be displayed in a home.

I see art as a way to show love, so my art is often made to be gifted. I also love creating memorial art for loved ones, often for family or pets. The piece I am submitting is edited from an old photo of my grandma, ‘Mama’, in her youth. She grew up in Gibraltar and moved to England, settling with my Grandpa in Desborough, where I was born. This piece was originally made as a gift for my Mum and uncle, but has since been printed multiple times for display in mine and my sister’s homes.

I’ve been a stay-at-home mum since my son was born 4 years ago, but I’m looking to start working again in a creative capacity. I see this exhibition as a fantastic opportunity to get my work seen by local people and become part of Kettering’s creative community.
